4 Great Jones

4 Great Jones | NEW YORK, NY

4 Great Jones Street is located in the heart of New York’s prime revitalized NoHo historic district. Conceived originally as a manufacturing building in the late 1800s, the structure still maintains its notable metal cornice and stone window ornament on the south façade. The historic brick envelope conceals its lofty and robust original timber frame construction which has been preserved throughout the numerous lifecycles of the building. The west façade sits on a private alleyway and is made up of 80 large double hung windows providing some of the largest natural light and air frontage in the NoHo district. After standing defunct for near 20 years, the building was reclaimed as a residential building in the early 1990’s.

Acquired recently by Madison Realty Capital, the building is undergoing a full exterior restoration and interior alteration to repurpose its lofty and airy timber framed interior. PKSB’s approach to repurposing the building is centered on the changing nature of the New York urbanite. The apportioned 8 units have been designed with flexibility in mind to offer buyers the option to customize kitchen layouts, future office and bedroom spaces and also allows for many living choices as they change and develop over time. Strategically utilizing the generous floor area of the building, the unit designs allows for the building’s new lofts to be home to the single shareholders or growing families.
