Van Nest School Complex in Construction
Construction forges ahead at the Van Nest school complex which will house both The LT. Curtis Meyran and John Bellew Education Complex and The Carl C. Icahn Charter School 11.

Look for regular updates as we rush to the finish line when the school opens to students in September.

Scaffolds are down revealing multi-color brick facades: red for the charter school and light gray for the public school.

Tile work is nearing completion in the double-height entry lobby which provides access to the cafeteria, gymnasium, and auditorium.

In the auditorium the walls are painted and the floating ceiling is installed. The space is already starting to look like a true theater. Still to come are birch wood seats and acoustical panels. The finishing touch will be a bold red stage curtain.

The gymnasium is nearly complete with the resilient wood flooring and wall pads soon to be installed. Light streams in from the upper windows to the east.

Additional play space is provided on the lower roof where a metal enclosure is just about finished.

Commissioned art work (waiting to be installed) provides views from the corridor into the stairwell.

Our bold and playful tile design is fully installed in the bathrooms. The color scheme varies per floor.

Smart boards are installed, offering state-of-the-art technology in every classroom.
